Casa Isabella

Riposo curato nel cuore dell'Italia

Mission & History

Nestled among the rolling hills of northern Italy, surrounded by organic vineyards, Casa Isabella was purchased as a place for our family to spend time together. We enjoyed Europe for years, and eventually Italy won more and more of our time and our hearts.

Guests that stay at the house have said things like "it's a sacred space" and "it was the highlight of our trip" and "I know someone that I wish could experience this." We've been seeing how this unique and organic weaving of rest, pampering, eating, and the "dolce far niente" is strangely powerful in the refreshment and healing of souls. Quindi, in 2025 we're creating a psuedo-ministry, whereby the house could be available to ministers and brothers and sisters who need time to take a deep breath. We hope that God would use this home and community to bless not just our family and friends, but whoever he is pleased to bring.

Casa Isbella’s mission is to restore and heal the weary, to provide a place of rest, a sanctuary for healing and spiritual renewal for God's children.

Location: The house is located in Roero, a wine region in Piemonte, which means "foot of the mountains." Roero is borded by the Swiss alps on the north and the French alps on the west. While there is a lot to do, the house is intentionally away from the typical tourist areas of Rome and Florence. We are 1 hour 40 minutes south of Milan and 50 minutes east of Turin, our preferred airport.

House Configuration and Use: The house, apartment and swimming pool can be used by individuals, couples, or groups. The house consists of four bedrooms and five baths. The ground floor is one large room with the kitchen (open concept). There is a small, detached apartment which has one bedroom, a living area with tv, a full bath, and an efficiency kitchen. The outside kitchen has a built-in gas grill, charcoal grill, wood fired pizza oven, and kitchen sink. The house is designed with outdoor living in mind, with the swimming pool, outdoor kitchen & dining just off the indoor living space and kitchen.

Food: The now world wide "Slow Food" movement was founded in Piemonte by Carlo Petrini, focusing on "quality, purity, and fairness."
While not entirely organic, Northern Italy leads the world in bio-dedicated, old seed farming. As a result there is great pride here in enjoying clean, flavorful food at every meal. If you'd heard it joked of that food is religion in Italy, come and see for yourself that it's actually no joke. There is a dedicated restaurant page here

Wine:
In Piemonte, wine is as much a part of culture as food. Roero boasts the world's highest percentage of 90+ wines, with nebbiolo being the most imortant grape, the foundation of the Barbaresco and Barolo vineyards.

Roero is within two hours of Mont Blanc, the Matterhorn, the French Alpes, the Italian Riviera, Lake Como and Milan. We are three hours from Nice/Monaco. Winery and farm visits near the house are popular. There are numerous outdoor markets like you see in the movies, rotating from village to village, each day of the week.
